Day 30

So today is the half-way point. It's officially all downhill from here! I weighed in at 230.4 lbs. this morning, so I'm down just shy of 30 pounds. These are great results, and I couldn't be happier with the results, or to be halfway done with the fast.
I had a fun, but rough weekend. Saturday I messed up my back pretty good while pulling my kid out of the car sleeping. Not sure how I did that, but I've been down most of the weekend trying to relax my back and taking anti-inflammatory meds to stave off the pain. I'm still in a bit of a haze from the meds I'm afraid, so I'm going to have to keep it brief today as the brain isn't performing as usual under these circumstances.

I really enjoyed St. Patty's day though, and per tradition, had to make the one "cheat" that I will allow myself for these 60 days... I had a Guinness. All work and no play makes Zak a dull boy, after all. And I must say, it was quite possibly the best Guinness I've ever had. And that is saying a lot, being that I've visited the Guinness factory in Dublin and enjoyed the tour with all of its 'offerings'. But this one... This was the first thing that wasn't juice or chicken broth that's touched my lips in a month, so it was pretty amazing.

I am so thankful to be at the half-way point today. It will certainly make the rest of the fast easier knowing that I've successfully made it this far. Day 60 seems to be right around the corner now. Pretty soon and I'll be through!

Acts 3:1-10

Now Peter and John were going up to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour.[a]And a man lame from birth was being carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple that is called the Beautiful Gate to ask alms of those entering the temple. Seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, he asked to receive alms. And Peter directed his gaze at him, as did John, and said, “Look at us.” And he fixed his attention on them, expecting to receive something from them. But Peter said, “I have no silver and gold, but what I do have I give to you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk!”And he took him by the right hand and raised him up, and immediately his feet and ankles were made strong. And leaping up he stood and began to walk, and entered the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God. And all the people saw him walking and praising God, 10 and recognized him as the one who sat at the Beautiful Gate of the temple, asking for alms. And they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.

It's pretty amazing how far a little faith in the right things can take you.

~Until tomorrow
